The McLaren P1 GTR has been in production since 2013 and it appeared in the shops last year. Now it looks like this magnificent racing car will get a road-legal edition thanks to a British company called Lanzante that already had some success with marquee cars in the past. The Hampshire-based team has already done an amazing job with one of McLaren’s bests, the F1. The demand was clearly there from the customers and it look like that Lanzante will answer the call.
The P1 GTR was fairly popular among the P1 road car owners. Only they were offered the P1 GTR’s, and McLaren has sold 40 units at an incredible one car rate of Ł1.98 million. Those cars originally weighed 1440 kg or 3174 pounds. Lanzante hasn’t exactly confirmed the news yet, but many rumors suggest that the road-legal P1 GTR’s will be sanctioned for European and Middle Eastern use only.
If everything goes well, that could expand later. When a race car gets a road-legal version, the discussion is always thorough, and different aspects and obviously the car itself – needs to be investigated. Although McLaren won’t be directly involved with the project, it is believed that they have given their blessing to Lanzante to go ahead with the project.
